If you are looking for a great adult scooter to use for exercise, look no further than the NYC scooter by Crazy Skates.To get proper exercise by using a scooter, you have to work both sides of your body equally; so you have to change feet to kick withe the other foot and keep changing back and forth. Personally, I change after every three kicks. To do that, you have to have a deck that is wide enough so that your feet are side by side with enough of your foot on the deck so it doesn't roll off and you twist an ankle. The NYC scooter is one of only two that, at 5.9" across, has a wide enough deck. Disappointingly, the other Crazy Skates scooters don't, which is a shame because I really like the look and features on the London model (I'm hoping Crazy Skates will modify the London to have the wider deck, hint, hint).Don't be fooled by scooter listings that advertise an "extra wide deck"; go into the listing and look for the actual number in inches. If you are curious about if the advertised width will work for you, take a piece of scrap paper, fold it to match the advertised width, and put your sneakers side by side on it and see if you'd be comfortable riding with that much of your foot hanging off the sides.I also love the large tires, which help make for a smoother ride. The deck has a good sandpaper finish for secure footing. The rest of the scooter is great quality too. I did have a problem with the kickstand dropping down while riding, but I reached out to the seller through Amazon and they sent me a new part with no problem, so props to Crazy Skates customer service.Be sure to tighten all the bolts before your first ride, and occasionally thereafter.All in all, I'm very pleased with,my purchase.This was the first scooter that I’ve ever purchased so I spent a lot of time researching before buying. I was looking for a scooter that would fold up for easy carrying and storage in my apartment, a carrying strap for when carrying it, a kickstand (I hate the idea of laying it on the ground) and with an adjustable handlebar so that I don’t have to stoop over while riding. This scooter had all of these things for a great price, plus I thought it was the best looking that I had seen.Build: The scooter itself is very solidly built from metal while also being very light, so I am guessing it is some sort of aluminum or other alloy. This isn’t a trick scooter for doing jumps, but more for cruising. The deck is nice and wide for my adult feet and the handlebars adjusted up high enough that I don’t have to bend over to use it. NOTE: The SYD model comes with the front wheel not attached. You have to install it by tightening one screw that they include. They also include two hex wrenches. You have to use both at once. Hold the bolt on one side with the first hex wrench to keep it in place, then tighten on the other side with the other hex wrench. You have to make sure it is really tight, obviously, as this wheel will be taking all the weight of the ride. I saw some other review saying the wheel came off, which obviously will happen if you don’t make sure the screw is done up real tight.Ride: Very smooth and stable while riding. The tires are urethane so they are good for the sidewalk and street in my neighborhood. The handle grips themselves are soft and comfortable, you don’t feel the metal handlebar underneath.Folding: This is the best part IMO. You pull on the black handle and the scooter folds in half. I can fit it in the hall closet easily. It also is handy when I want to carry it somewhere while out with it. I just fold and then use the carrying strap.I will update after a few more months if there are any issues.My only gripes are that the strap can scrape against the front wheel when the strap is made longer and the front brake could be strongerI took me quite some time to purchase the best scooter for my daughter and I mean a long time. She loves it and I have rhe piece of mind that it's not going to fall apart mid scoot. The best part of this brand is that you can choose different styles for different kind of activities. 100% recommend for you kidsI ride it home from work about 2-3 times a week and it cuts my walking time in half. Great foldable scooter that is fun looking and sturdy.I got the model that has the hand brake. That was the most important feature I wanted. That model’s handlebars don't go quite as high so I was a little nervous. I’m 5’6” but I also wanted my tall son to be able to use it. At 14 he’s about 5’10” so far. Once we got it set up (quickly) I was happy to see that the handlebar goes much higher than I needed! I went for a quick ride around my block. I think I’m going to enjoy going for rides with my kids. I had an electric razor scooter but after only a few months it is broken, and it’s too hard to control. It goes so fast and I’m not good at turning so I’ve fallen off and sprained my ankle. I think a kick scooter is a better choice for me, and I’m happy with my purchase. I researched for hours and I’m glad I chose this one! I’ll update my review after I’ve had it a while.It looks really cute. Got the sydney black version and looks expensive. Well made for this price. I'm enjoying my ride!This is a well built scooter, feels very robust, like the metallic feel on the handle bar, looks expensive.He loves it ~ it's great you can fold it up so easily and he's been riding it for a couple of months to school and back and it's still going strong.
